Her Best Foot Forward was founded in St. Louis, Missouri, by Laura Chauvin, a veteran non-profit strategist and charitable advisor. Having successfully built fundraising platforms in higher education, agricultural research, environmental sustainability, and the arts, Laura has worked with non-profit clients throughout the St. Louis region, United States and internationally, helping each to envision and reach its potential.

Focused on NGO client projects while in Tanzania, she was awed by the beaded creations of the Maasai women she met along the way. Departing for home,  she emptied her suitcase to accommodate the handmade sandals she knew her daughters and friends would love. While she did not anticipate the unbridled delight (and the resulting demand) which followed, she quickly recognized a pathway to bring important global challenges more closely into awareness for visionary people. Working with women in Tanzania and the U.S., she created Her Best Foot Forward, beautiful sandals which, through collaboration, sustainability and style, empower women and girls in Africa.

When Laura is not on a plane heading somewhere else, she makes her home in St. Louis, Missouri and Louisville, Kentucky. She and her incredibly supportive husband, Judge McKay Chauvin, are the parents of three amazing children and an assortment of dogs.
